American Dancers Compete for World Titles
Headliners Performing Arts Competition announces the results and winners from the World Show Dance Championships, held November 22nd-26th, 2006. The World Show Dance Championships is a unique opportunity for dancers from the United States to compete along with dancers from other countries for world titles.
"This experience has opened my eyes to the vast horizons of what is available to anyone who believes in themselves," exclaimed Angela Bergamo, TEAM USA Bronze Medalist.
Headliners is the only competition in the US , selected by the International Dance Organization to choose dancers to earn placement for world titles in Show Dance and Hip Hop. Competing dancers are selected at Headliners Regional events, and hundreds of dancers come to the qualifying event held the day prior to Headliners Nationals each summer, seeking a coveted spot on Team USA. Representatives from IDO, are on hand to judge and preside over the event, while Headliners hosts this spectacular opportunity.
Shari Tomasiello, VP Headliners, had this to say, "TEAM USA is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's the Olympics of Dance. These dancers are not just representing their studio, they're representing their country!"
Irma Ziegler, Headliners CEO added, "Watching students from studios all over the country bond together as a team, encouraging and supporting each other is a thrill. The lessons learned, reach far beyond dance and competition."
2,300 dancers from 28 countries and four continents participated in the 2006 events and we're expecting more this year. There are 5 categories including: female solo, Male solo, duo/couple, Group (3-7 dancers) formation (8-24) and production (25+) in child, junior and senior divisions.
Highest scoring soloists in each age division at All Headliners 2007 Regionals will have the opportunity to perform in a specially choreographed production number.
